I have not written on my blog for a couple of weeks now. Spring has sprung! The added responsibility of yard work has taken lots of my time. Plus I have been thinking and studying on ways to promote my book, Can You Understand Me? Actually, one of my dear friends and a Foxy Hag, Chickie, has been brainstorming with me. I told her one day in the future I will need to make her my marketing manager. :O)

I do enjoy yard work, but pulling up weeds and prepping my flower beds is best done when the weather is cool. Heat and humidity melt me, proving I am not a summertime girl. In fact, come June I shall pay Bryar, one of my treasures in my life, to do all the weed eating. Bryar is one of my heart grandsons, a son of one of my stepdaughters. He will be seventeen in August and is a strong, muscular, athletic, young man. He will have no trouble tolerating the heat and the sun this summer and whacking those weeds down to the ground.

You know I name everything, and Jack, my riding lawn mower is no exception. Jack makes it all so easy. When I ride all over the one and one-half acres I need to mow, I can sit on Jack and smile. Even sing! I have a small push mower I use for a few slopes in the yard. A simple name — Jill. This small mower helps keep me fit… and humble!

I shall post a picture or two of my flowers this summer. I am sure, Dear Reader, you will be delighted! Flowers bring us so much joy and beauty. And Louisville has a Dogwood Festival every year before the Kentucky Derby. A local neighborhood, Audubon Park, well known for its dogwoods and azaleas, celebrates their beauty like Spring Rock Stars. Lights are placed in strategic spots in the ground to highlight these stunning trees and bushes at night. It is as beautiful and colorful as Christmas lights! And Mother Nature is truly the star of the show. So if you are in Louisville a week or so prior to Derby, plan to check this festival out. You will not be disappointed.

My darling Man, Alan, and I are planning to stroll around the festival streets tonight and take in all the wonder of nature! I shall try to take a few pictures and post one next week.

But the weather forecast is predicting rain…which means the grass will grow…and the weeds…which means Joan will be back in the yard.

But I’ll be back on my blog, too. I love to write!

c   Love, Joan

My dear Joan, I have had you on my mind. I knew you have not blogged in a while. I am glad you are doing well and enjoying the summer prep! So many beautiful flowers and trees fill me with smiles and good energy as I walk in nature. A few times I have been surprised by a deer grazing by the creek – that always makes me think of you. Thank you for inspiring me with you writing and joy! Blessings to you and Alan – enjoy the Dogwood Festival.

I have a book in the works but feel stuck on how to move forward.

Thank you beautiful Lady for sharing your thoughts about my book. I highly encourage you to stay with your writing! Hay House Publishing is online. They have a writing camp a couple of times every year and are really helpful in “how to move forward.” Not too pricey either. Good luck beautiful Lady!
