Above is a picture of a large Fairy House created from a very tall tree stump located in the small neighborhood of Audubon Park here in Louisville. I had promised you a picture of dogwoods or azaleas from last Friday when my darling Man and I strolled around the on the sidewalks. But the Fairy tree really stole the show for a few minutes. We are going back tonight as it is the official festival evening. Perhaps some of the azaleas will have lights on them. Dogwoods have now leafed out after dropping their beautiful white or pink blossoms. We shall see. In the meantime I thought you might enjoy a little note about Fairies. :O)
According to Google, stories of Fairies go back to early European folklore, ancient Greek stories, or long-ago tales from Peru. Some stories depict them as happy, little helpers, others tell tales of mischief and at times meanness. I prefer the happy tales, picturing Fairies sliding down the stalks of my flowers, sitting in blossoms, and zip lining across cobwebs! And of course they are always singing or playing a musical instrument! I have a few small Fairy houses I set up every spring showcasing fairies sitting on ceramic mushrooms or rocks, and one is even playing the piano! Lots of folks believe in Fairies. Fairy woodlands can be built with the help of Mother Nature; sticks, moss, feathers, rocks, etc. For those of you that are local to Louisville or Bardstown, KY, you may be familiar with Bernheim Forest. Bernheim promotes family activities and one of them includes building Fairy Houses. Or if you wish you can go online and order “Fairy stuff” for your gardens.
If you decide to build a Fairy community always remember Fairies have magical powers. As magical as you yourself can imagine! I highly encourage you to employ your imagination. It is not only fun but important. Albert Einstein is believed to have said, “Imagination is more important than knowledge. Knowledge is limited. Imagination encircles the world.” Makes you think of the four astronauts circling the Moon doesn’t it? :O) Which reminds me! I need to take the time and listen to the four of them speak about their experience.
I hope I have sparked your interest. I am sure every child, every little, can inform you on Fairies if you have any questions. Go to the experts, cut to the chase, any time you have questions on a topic!

This is so lovely and chocked full of truth that is so needed now. In Patrick Harbula’s book, “The Magic of the Soul,” he has a whole section on Angels including the Fairy realm. I hope many people take your suggestions. I Love You So Much!
I love you, too beautiful Lady! :O)
I loved the picture of the Fairy House. We saw a Fairy House in the Douglass Hills neighborhood last year and I agree – it is magical! It is so fun to let our imaginations flow. I had a good friend in Colorado who created a big fairy garden with a path through her side yard for her granddaughters to enjoy. The neighbors also walked through it and enjoyed all the fairy stuff she had collected for several years. Enjoy the Dogwood Festival!
Thanks Rick! Magical Fairies, for sure!
I remember the tooth fairies 🙂
Yes! The tooth Fairy brought us a little Money! Hurray!
I love fairies!! In the coming week I am hoping we have time to visit the area in Rome known for fairies called Quartiere Coppedè. This whimsical neighborhood, designed by architect Gino Coppedè, features a mix of Art Nouveau, medieval, and Baroque styles, creating a unique and fairy-tale-like atmosphere.
I will send pictures if we do!
I hope you get there beautiful Lady! I love whimsical! Have fun!
