I have loved to read books since I was a little girl. And now that I have self published my book, Can You Understand Me?, it seems even more natural to give books a place on my blog to celebrate them!

I enjoy reading several types of books: autobiographies, biographies, historical romances, mysteries, suspense thrillers (as long as they are not too scary), spiritual books, self-help books, and I still like to read children’s books. At times I choose to get lost in a good book, one that has what I call “some good meat to it”. You know, when you feel like the characters are actually living in your house. That book that you simply do NOT want to put down, you’ve got to read it, and when you are done you wish the story was not over.

Here are a few of my favorite books: The Star-Crossed Sisters of Tuscany, by Lori Nelson Spielman. Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine, by Gail Honeyman. The Mountain Between Us, by Charles Martin. Nightwork, by Nora Roberts. The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People, by Stephen R. Covey. To Kill a Mockingbird, by Harper Lee. Gone With the Wind, by Margaret Mitchell. Jane Eyre, by Charlotte Bronte. The Grapes of Wrath, by John Steinbeck. Conversations with God, by Neale Donald Walsch. The Power of Intention, by Dr. Wayne W. Dyer. A New Earth, by Eckhart Tolle. Courage to Change, by Al-Anon Family Groups. (Please forgive me as I am not italicizing the titles of these books as is grammatically correct. I have not been able how to figure out how to change the font on this program that I post on.) :O)

I could go on and on, so many wonderful books to pick up and read! So many wonderful books I have read! There have been times when I have gone to the library to find a good book, and I positively know my Angels have tapped me on the shoulder. “Get that one,” they say. “Yes, that’s the one!”. And it is! The perfect book for me to read for that time in my life.

The alphabet, 26 simple letters, is one of the best inventions hands down for me. What would our world be like if we could not read and write?

I hope this post has jogged your memory with a few favorite book titles of your own. Maybe it’s time to read it again? Or something new? Go on, pick it up. Read on!

Thank you for your post to stimulate my memory of books I have read and enjoyed. I had to read so many books during ministerial training that stopped reading for fun. I have only started reading for fun in the last few years. I remember getting “lost” in the numbered series of books from Janet Evanovich. I read them when I traveled every week on a plane and one day a man asked me why are you reading that book? Isn’t that a woman’s book? I thought that was rude – I told him it was a funny mystery, and I enjoyed all of her antics! I think he had some issues, so I kept on reading her series! I love your book as well. You are a bright light in the world!

Thank you, Rick! I have read many of Janet Evanovich’s books, too. And listened to her audio tapes. Always made me laugh. Her books are for everyone! :O)
