It truly is here, springtime! I think it is a season most of us love. The flowers, the buds, the blooms, the Tall Beings coming alive again, and the temperature is just right to be outdoors. I can’t seem to get enough of my time out walking on the farm across the road, Reddogg by my side, and all the birds raising their voices, singing their songs. Everything is alive!

Around Our Treehouse the grass is so green and growing strong. I am back in my routine of mowing with Jack the Lawn Mower. Jack has once again brought mechanical lessons into my life. His battery needed recharging and my brother Mark had to give me a review on how to set the battery charger in place. But you know, that is something I just don’t do that often, though how I could forget “black on black, and red on red” when setting the charging cables in their proper place, well, I do not know. I simply give myself a gracious pass when it comes to mechanical things. I am sure many of you remember last year when I posted a picture of my front yard because I had mowed my yard with a flat tire! I didn’t even know I had a flat tire! And the yard looked like someone had whacked on it with giant, blunt scissors. And my same sweet brother came over and just laughed and laughed, saying, “Um Joan, did you mow your yard with a flat tire?” And I told him, if he ever needs a medical injection I’m the nurse to call, though I may insist I need to stick that needle in his oh, so funny hide more than once!

My darling Man, Alan, and I walked in Bernheim last weekend, a beautiful forest not far from Louisville. The wildflowers are popping up everywhere, proof that spring has arrived. I am thinking wildflowers do not receive enough attention, certainly not enough praise. They are faithful, resilient, colorful and beautiful, and appear in the fields and the woods in massive amounts of variety.

The trees must be mentioned, too. Remember that old poem, ‘How Do I Love Thee?’ by Elizabeth Barrett Browning. That’s how I feel about the Tall Beings! Truly they are the most giving Beings on the planet. I can count in so many ways how I love the trees. Their gorgeous blossoms in the spring and beautiful colors in the fall, the shade they provide, the wood for fires, the paper and other numerous products that are made from trees, even a stump of a tree can be a good place to sit on. But their real super power is trees use the sun to change up the carbon dioxide and water their leaves absorb, which ultimately feeds the trees, and as a result a tree can produce oxygen which we all live on!

The above picture is the Creeping Phlox I have growing on my front sidewalk. Aren’t they gorgeous!? I am headed out soon to jump on Jack the Lawn Mower once again. The grass is taller than ever. This past weekend Alan taught me how to drive a Zero-Turn lawn mower. That is a machine, seriously!! My sweet brother Mark has been trying to bring his Zero-Turn over to teach me how to drive it and I have always said no. But you know, I may just give him a call and ask him to bring it over. And then when I just jump right up there and start that mower and mow my yard like an old pro…I will watch his jaw drop and hear him say, “Um, Joan, YOU can drive a Zero-Turn?!!!”

Ah, yes! Life is Good! Happy Spring! :O)

Oh, how I love your attitude of fun and gentleness with yourself for life situations. Don’t take life too seriously – it’s not permanent! I had a shirt with that saying on it for a long time. Yes, Spring is here, and everything is coming alive and shining forth such beauty. Even my allergies are shining – or at least they have made my nose shiny!

I want to see a picture of you on the Zero-Turn Mower. Mostly because I don’t know what that is…
Enjoy every day my sweet friend!
