I just have to share about the Sandhill Cranes! I am not an official bird watcher… yet, but I do love the birds. And for the past three to four weeks the Sandhill Cranes have flown right over Our Treehouse. And I think, what a big deal it is that Our Treehouse is located along part of their migration pathway. I mean, what’s the odds? They have departed from the upper northern States and Canada, and are headed to warmer climates. Some remain in Kentucky, Indiana, and Tennessee. Others fly all the way to Georgia or Florida, averaging 400 to 500 miles each day. Apparently from what I have read from Google, :O), Barron River State Park here in Kentucky, is a big stopping point for them. I watched a video on YouTube, seeing these birds fly down from the sky, to eat and drink and hop all around. They look like they are dancing!

So I watch them flying high up in the sky. First I hear them. I have read they make a “karoo” sound but it sounds more like a “coooo-coooo” sound to me. Headed south for the winter I see them flying, sometimes in erratic patterns. I stepped outside on my driveway a few mornings ago and I immediately heard the cooo-cooo sound. Looking up I saw forty to fifty Sandhill Cranes flying directly over Our Treehouse, circling back around and hanging out for a few minutes high up in the sky. It was magical! They flew in a large V shape, then they moved into a circle. At one point they looked like the shape of a giant bird or an airplane!

It’s that time of year isn’t it? So many magical sights and sounds all around us. Not only outdoors but in our work places, our cities, our stores, and in our homes. My hope for you, Dear Reader, is that your life is filled with blessings in all areas of your life this holiday season. I hope you feel loved enough to give some of that love away to others, friends and strangers. That you can see things with wonder, like the eyes of a child sees wonder, that you can laugh and smile, and relax and just be.

Below is a link of a two minute video of these marvelous birds migrating in the Spring at Platte River State Park in Nebraska. Enjoy!
